(CPV) – Thirty trains with the spirit of Vietnam – Japan friendship will travel the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City route from May 8th to September 23rd. This is part of the activities to promote the 2013 Vietnam – Japan friendship year.

Pagodas on the Spratly Archipelago

In the old days, on Vietnam’s islands in the East Sea, Vietnamese fishermen built small pagodas to pray to God for safety and bumper catches of fish. Based on the ancestors’ traditional belief and faith, three pagodas have been upgraded on Song Tu Tay, Sinh Ton and big Spratly Islands.

In the framework of the official visit to the Federation of Russia, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung went to Kaliningrad to inspect the Kilo-636 submarine named the Hanoi, that Vietnam contracted to buy from Russia during Dung’s visit to the country in 2009. On this occasion, the Prime Minister held a talk with naval officers and sailors studying in the Federation of Russia.

Lighthouses on Spratly archipelago

On Spratly Archipelago has nine lighthouses on Song Tu Tay, Da Lat, An Bang, Son Ca, Da Tay, Tien Nu, Big Spratly, Nam Yet and Sinh Ton islands. Each lighthouse holds a specific story as they have different colours, shapes and lights. Lighthouses are considered the nation’s “magic eyes” at the East Sea.
