(CPV) - The 1000^th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi was successful, which included important contributions from the press, said vice chairwoman of Hanoi City People’s Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang.

(CPV) - The Vietnam Guinness Book Center (Vietbooks) on October 10^th announced 20 national records of Hanoi capital on the anniversary of 1,000 years of Thang Long – Hanoi.

Around 40,000 people sang the national anthem to the roar of canons firing to start the parade to mark the capital city’s millennial anniversary on October 10.

The Fine Art Publishing House has published a special book entitled President Ho Chi Minh and the Capital City Hanoi compiled by Do Hoang Linh and Nguyen Van Duong.

On October 7^th, Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony to present prizes to short films about Thang Long – Hanoi of 1000 years of civilization.

(CPV) – About 600 domestic and foreign scientists gathered at an international conference entitled “Sustainable development of Hanoi capital – civilized and heroic city for peace” being held in Hanoi from October 7^th to 10^th to mark the capital’s millennium celebration.

Foreign contestants in the 2009-2010 international contest to discover Thang Long-Hanoi, themed “ Hanoi -Your Destination,” have recommended solutions for preserving the 1,000 year old city’s cultural relics.

(CPV) – On October 5^th, the inauguration ceremony for Hanoi’s ceramic mosaic mural took place in Hanoi. The mosaic mural was also recognized as the largest Ceramic mosaic by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The 2010 Hanoi kite festival, themed “Hanoi – Sky of peace” was held on October 6 with the participation of artisans from different parts of the country. The festival is a part of the celebration of 1,000 years of Thang Long – Hanoi.

An inauguration ceremony for Hanoi Museum was held in Hanoi on October 6 to mark the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.

(CPV) - 120 photos about Thai Binh province and Hanoi are on display at an exhibition which opened in Thai Binh province on October 5^th to mark the 1000^th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi and the 120^th anniversary of Thai Binh province.

An exhibition entitled “Bat Trang pottery – tradition and modern” opened on October 5^th to glorify traditional villages on the occasion of the capital’s millennium celebration.

A 14.2m statue of the mythical saviour of the nation, Saint Giong, was inaugurated on Oct. 5 on top of Da Chong Mountain in Soc Son suburban district of Hanoi.

The State Museum of Oriental Arts of Russia on October 5 held a seminar focusing on traditional and modern features in Vietnamese urban culture on the occasion of the 1,000 anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
