    Welcome Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union
    CPV: The European Council meeting of 14-15 December will welcome the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union (EU). To celebrate this important occasion, the Commission is organising a major event (open to all) in the centre of Brussels hosted by President José Manuel Barroso and Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn. Representatives of Bulgaria and Romania as well as of the member states will be present.
    Finnpartnership: the Finnish business partnership programme
    CPV: In Hanoi on November 28 and in Ho Chi Minh City on December 1, the Embassy of Finland in Hanoi and Finnpartnership willl organize two seminars titled "Opportunities from Finland".
    EU to continue support Vietnam for research and technological development
    CPV: An information session on the European Union’s 7th Framework Programme (FP7) for Research and Technological Development organised by the Delegation of the European Commission to Vietnam in Hanoi on November 16.
    Erasmus Mundus Roadshow: Information event on European Master Courses and scholarships
    CPV: On October 30th, the Delegation of the European Commission to Vietnam organised for the second time the Erasmus Mundus Roadshow at the National Economics University in Hanoi. Many students and lecturers attended the event in order to get more information on the Erasmus Mundus programme.
    Nearly 7,000 French books on display in Hanoi
    Nearly 7,000 books published by 100 French publishing houses are on show at the fifth French books exhibition which opened in Hanoi on October 25.
    ASEM Trust Fund 2 granted Vietnam nearly 9 million USD
    CPV: A closing session for the ASEM Asian Financial Crisis Response Fund 2 (ASEM Trust Fund 2) was organised in Hanoi on October 19 with the participation of representatives from the countries participating in the programme.

    Demark grants 46.9 million Kuron to enhance Vietnamese small and medium sizes competitiveness capacity
    CPV: In the 2005-2009, the Danish government will grant a 46.9 million Kuron non-refundable aid for Vietnamese government to enhance the competitiveness capacity for small and medium sizes.
    Launch of music talent prize 2006
    CPV: Under the cultural development and exchange fund (CDEF)'s scope of work, talent prize for young Vietnamese artists is undertaken annually with the aim of providing direct support to contemporary artists and performances in Vietnam.
    8 Danish Oil and Gas leading firms to Vietnam
    CPV: In connection with the Vietnam Oil & Gas Expo 2006, a delegation of eight leading companies from the Danish offshore industry will visit Vietnam to explore business opportunities in the oil and gas sector.
    EU postponing vote on anti-dumping tax on Vietnam’s leather shoes
    The EU has decided to postpone the time for vote on an anti-dumping duty on leather shoes imported from Vietnam and China.
    European Commission (EC) continues co-financing of poverty reduction support credit
    CPV: In Hanoi, on 27th September, the Vice Minister of Planning and Investment, Cao Viet Sinh and Ambassador-Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Vietnam Mr. Markus Cornaro signed the Financing Agreement of the European Commission’s “Support for Vietnam's Poverty Reduction and Support Strategy under PRSC-4”.
    Second annual European Food Festival hits Hanoi
    CPV: Following the success of the first annual European Food Festival held in Hanoi to celebrate Europe Day in 2005, the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) will bring the event back for a second year.
    Denmark to enhance capacity for Vietnamese culture managers
    CPV: On September 29, in Hanoi, Vice Minister of Culture and Information Mr. Tran Chien Thang and Ambassador of Denmark Mr. Peter Lysholt Hansen will sign an agreement to support cultural decision and opinion makers in Vietnam, according to the Royal Danish Embassy in Hanoi.
    Federal Republic of Germany helps Vietnam scientific research
    (CPV) - On September 27, in Hanoi, scientists and policy makers from the Federal Republic of Germany and Vietnam participated in a ceremony to mark 10 years of establishing scientific and technology cooperation between Vietnam and Federal Republic of Germany.

    “Vietnam-Tradition and Modernity” was the main theme of the eighth International Day of Solidarity which was held in the city of Brou sur Chantereine, France recently.
    Germany to build housing for poor
    The Germany Aid and Development Cooperation Department agreed to grant 225,000 Euros (about 4.5 billion VND) to Vietnamese youth and women association in the country to implement the project of building 400 solidarity houses for the poor in the provinces of Cao Bang, Ninh Thuan, Ben Tre and Ca Mau.
    Vietnam does not dump leather shoes on EU market
    Vietnam has not dumped leather shoes on the EU market. The EC’s imposition of anti-dumping tariffs on Vietnamese leather-capped shoes will only have a serious impact on Vietnam's leather shoe sector, running counter to the cooperative relations between Vietnam and the EU.
    Photo exhibition “Mozart in Vienna-selected scenes from his life” opens
    CPV: The photo exhibition “Mozart in Vienna-selected scenes from his life”, sponsored by the Austrian Embassy in Hanoi and Citigroup Vietnam, officially displayed on September 14-28, 2006 in the gallery of the Hanoi Hilton Opera Hotel.
    EC grants 16 million Euros for Vietnamese educational system
    CPV: In Hanoi, on 12th September, Mr Tran Xuan Ha, vice minister of Finance and Dr Markus Cornaro, Ambassador-Head of the European Commission Delegation to Vietnam signed a Financing Agreement to provide 16 million Euros to enhance the quality of basic education and strengthen the administration of the government’s Education National Targeted Programme (NTP).
