    UN pledges further support for bird flu prevention
    The United Nations praised Vietnam’s active part in fighting avian influenza and announced that they will continue to support the country in the prevention and control of the epidemic.
    Avian Flu Reoccurs in Ca Mau Province
    Vo Quoc Viet, the spokesman of the People’s Committee of the Southern Province of Ca Mau, on September 25th, said an avian flu outbreak had been detected in Khanh Hai Commune, Tran Van Thoi district.
    Quang Ngai province: Avian flu recurs
    Over the past several days, the central province of Quang Ngai has reported the poultry epidemic spreading with samples tested positive for the H5N1 virus.
    The General public to participate in poultry vaccinations
    The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Bui Ba Bong has affirmed that the ministry and the Veterinary Department are discussing a new poultry and animal vaccination program which will not be subsidized by the state. By 2008, all localities and people will have to participate in the vaccination.

    Raising of waterfowl to closely align with avian flu prevention
    Avian flu reoccurred nearly one month after it was under control in the Mekong River Delta. After that, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) issued a decision allowing the hatching and raising of waterfowl. Some people are afraid that this will cause trouble for avian flu prevention. However, MARD Deputy Minister Bui Ba Bong affirmed that the decision was made based in a specific basis.
    Bird flu hits two farms in Ha Noi
    Bird flu has struck two chicken farms in Ha Noi's suburbs, increasing to three the number of affected northern localities, an animal health department said on Mar. 7.
    Bird flu hits one more northern province
    Bird flu has struck northern Ha Tay province, killing 550 chickens at a farm in Thach That district, said a veterinary official at a meeting of the Central Steering Committee for Bird Flu Prevention and Control on Mar. 6.
    Binh Duong province: Avian flu under control
    In 2006, the southern province of Binh Duong vaccinated over 1.8 million poultry, accounting for 90% of the total. Authorized agencies have instructed people on an increase in environmental sanitation in breeding grounds.
    MARD to more strictly inspect scale, development of newly-hatched waterfowl
    “The permission for the hatching and raising of waterfowl will force us to check the scale and development speed of it. Incubating houses and breeding grounds will have to be surrounded by walls, and not allowed to be situated in within the city, and isolated from residential areas, schools and offices,” said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Bui Ba Bong when the raising of poultry is allowed again on March 1.
    Raising of waterfowl allowed again by March
    CPV: The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has allowed the raising of waterfowl from March. However, breeders will have to register with the communal people’s committees to make sure that the waterfowl have been vaccinated.
    Avian flu cools down
    The Veterinary Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on January 4 said that avian flu had been under control.
