Aiming at luring more domestic and foreign visitors for the Lunar New Year 2007, the Tien Giang trade and tourism sector has launched many new tours, said the Tien Giang Trade and Tourism Department.
Tien Giang Tourism Joint-Stock Company will arrange tours such as taking pleasure-boats to Thoi Son and Phung Islets from the first day to the third day of the Lunar New Year, organizing the celebration of Tet in Thai Son Islet, Chau Thanh district and Dong Hoa Hiep Commune, visiting My Tho spring flowers market, Tan My Chanh flower-planting village, and celebrating traditional New Year with people in Luong Hoa Lac Commune, Cho Gao District, My Phong Commune, and Precinct 9 in My Tho City.
Apart from a new tour “Foreigners celebrate Traditional New Year”, Tien Giang Tourism Joint-stock Company is opening special river tours, focusing on European tourists. The company will combine visiting familiar destinations with performing traditional games, introducing relics and the origin, and significance of Tet festivals. At present, the company runs a service with capability for from 1,000 to 1,500 tourists per day.
According to Deputy Director of the Tien Giang Trade and Tourism Department, these new tours started attracting the interest of domestic and foreign tourists. At present, apart from the preparation for enough train and plane tickets to meet the demand of traveling during Tet, the company repaired, improved, and opened services and games in Thoi Son Islet, Tan Thanh tourism area, and other tourism areas.
