(CPV) - Hue general hospital has just celebrated the attainment of the international accreditation standards for its microbiology laboratory with funding from the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.
So far, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in collaboration with Family Health International has implemented a program to assist Vietnam to transition six central and provincial level medical laboratories, to international standards of operation.
After 18 months of this intensive program, three of the six laboratories, including Hue General Hospital, have successfully received ISO 15189 accreditation issued by the Bureau of Accreditation from the Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, and it is anticipated that two more laboratories will be receiving their accreditation in the next two to three months.
This accreditation makes certain that laboratories operate at internationally recognized levels, adopting Quality Management Systems that improve efficiency, ensure more reliable test results, and enhance overall health care for clients who access services at government sites.
Internationally recognized laboratory accreditation has played an important role in improving national health care systems worldwide./.
