(CPV) - On June 12th 2012, the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam held the signing ceremony of the grassroots grant contract funded by the Government of Japan for “The Project for Upgrading and Extending the primary schools of Hai Phu Commune”.
The amount of the grant is USD 119,625, the recipient organization is The People’s Committee of Hai Phu Commune.
The primary school belongs to Hai Phu commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province, with a population of 10,400 people and 3,100 households. The household poverty rate is 34%. Agriculture is a major industry in the commune, and primary products are rice, fruit trees, live stock and poultry breeding.
The primary school of Hai Phu commune has 1 building with 3 rooms (2 classrooms) constructed in 1968 and 1 building with 3 classrooms constructed in 1970, totalling 5 classrooms used for learning in two shifts. The school has now become seriously degraded, raising concerns about the children’s safety.
Under this circumstance, The People’s Committee of Hai Phu Commune has planned to build a new building (8 classrooms) in order to avoid having to study in shifts and improve primary education of the commune. The Government of Japan has decided to grant aid to purchase the necessary materials for the project.
At the ceremony, H.E. Mr. Yasuaki Tanizaki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, and Mr. Pham Van Quynh, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hai Phu Commune, signed the grant contract.
Ambassador Tanizaki said: “I hope that this project funded by the Government of Japan will raise the education standard of Hai Phu commune, and contribute to social and economic development of the region and Vietnam.”
On the same day, the signing ceremony for “The Project for Upgrading and Extending the primary school of Quang Thien Commune” was held in Hanoi. The amount of this grant is USD 122,258 and the recipient organization is The People’s Committee of Quang Thien Commune.
The primary school belongs to Quang Thien commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province, with a population of 13,000 people and 2,750 households. The household poverty rate is 19%. Agriculture is a major industry in the commune, and the primary products are rice, corn, and potatoes.
The primary school of Quang Thien commune has 1 building with 4 classrooms constructed in 1962 and 1 building with 12 rooms (8 classrooms) constructed in 2002, totalling 12 classrooms used for learning in two shifts. The school has now become seriously degraded, raising safety concerns.
The People’s Committee of Quang Thien Commune has planned to build a new building (8 classrooms) in order to improve primary education of the commune and end the need for studying in shifts. The Government of Japan has decided to grant aid to purchase the necessary materials for the project.
