On June 21^st, the Vietnam Air-Force Academy and Air-Defence Force launched a contest on the Vietnam-Laos special relationship.

The contest has great socio-political significance. It is the opportunity for the two parties, two states and people of the two countries in general, and staff, lecturers and students in the Vietnam Air-Force Academy and Air-Defence Force to review the glorious history of the special relationship between Vietnam and Lao over the past 50 years, contributing to strengthen the faithful relations and become a special and noble symbol in the history of international relations.

According to deputy head of the Party Central Committee Commission of Popularization and Education Bui The Duc, the contest aims to respond to the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2012 to mark the 35th anniversary of the signing of Vietnam-Lao Friendship and Cooperation Treaty (July 18) and the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties (September 5).

The contest contributes to educate the revolutionary tradition for people of the two countries, especially the youth, about their special relations in the struggle for national liberation and construction of socialism in each country, Mr. Duc added.

The contest at the academy will focus on factors to establish and decide the special relations between the two countries, the close relationship between the two nations during struggles in the past as well as in national construction at present. Also the role of senior leaders of the two parties and two states in building and developing the special relationship, the feeling about Lao’s culture, land and people, and what is needed to do to promote the special relationship.

The contest will close on September 5^th 2012./.
