The Italian Red Cross will provide 50,000 EUR for a one-year project on capacity building and healthcare for mothers in Duc Hoa district, the southern province of Long An.

An agreement to this effect was signed between the Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) and the Italian Red Cross in Hanoi on July 6.

According to VRC, the project will target women at the age of 15-49 in the district, which has the highest rate of those suffering from reproductive health related diseases in Long An.

The project will provide consultancy as well as early diagnosis and treatment for women in the community, in order to reduce the rate of catching reproductive health related diseases among beneficiaries.

During the 2010-2011 period, the Italian Red Cross provided 100,000 EURO for southern Tien Giang and Binh Phuoc provinces to implement a project on capacity building and health care for mothers and children.

The project benefited 2,100 mothers and 1,800 children in the project sites./.
