    Agricultural, forestry and aquatic products exports up 12.4 percent

    (CPV) – Vietnam’s export turnover of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products reached an estimated USD15.9 billion in the first seven months of 2012, a year-on-year increase of 12.4 percent, reported the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

    Of this figure, export value of agricultural products reached an estimated USD8.9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.1 percent while export turnover of aquatic and forestry products was USD3.4 billion (up 6.5 percent) and USD2.7 billion (up 21.6 percent) respectively.

    In the first seven months this year, the country recorded positive rises in export turnover of some agricultural products.

    For coffee, the country exported about 1.2 million tonnes in the first seven months this year, worth USD2.5 billion. These figures saw increases in both volume and value. The two largest consumption markets of Vietnamese coffee were Germany with 12.9 percent and the US with 12.4 percent. Specifically, the Indonesian market witnessed a sudden growth with a nine-fold increase compared to the same period last year.

    For tea, exported volume posted 73,000 tonnes, valued at USD108 million. These figures brought a year-on-year increase of 5.9 percent in volume and a year-on-year rise of 4.2 percent in value. Pakistan continued to retain the largest importer of Vietnam’s tea with a market share of 19.2 percent.

    For cashew, about 120,000 tonnes were exported in the first seven months this year, worth USD 828 million, marking a 36.5 percent increase in volume and 19.2 percent rise in value compared to the same period last year. Big consumption markets of Vietnam’s cashew were the US, accounting for 28.3 percent, China (17.8 percent) and the Netherlands (12.2 percent)./.
