    20:26 | 28/07/2012

Acting Chairman of Russian State Duma Melnikov Ivan Ivanovich has reaffirmed that Russia wants to foster relations with Vietnam, especially in legislation and supervising the implementation of signed agreements.

At a meeting with President Truong Tan Sang in Moscow on July 28, Acting Chairman Melnikov said he believes that Mr Sang’s visit will mark a milestone in Russia-Vietnam traditional relations and their strategic partnership.

President Sang congratulated Russia on its great achievements in developing and modernizing the country, improving people’s living conditions, and raising the country’s status in the international arena.

The State leader asked Russia to help Vietnam improve the professional capacity of NA deputies to meet the requirements of the nation's legislative activities.

Both host and guest praised the recent close cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian State Duma.

The exchange of delegations and coordination in the Inter-parliamentary Union and other regional forums has improved the effectiveness of legislative activities on both sides.

They hoped that their legislative bodies will continue boosting cooperation in the international arena to ensure the validity and implementation of international treaties in which both sides are involved.

They also spoke highly of the Vietnam-Russia and Russia-Vietnam Parliamentarian Friendship Groups and committed to create the best conditions for them to continue strengthening bilateral ties./.
