From now until the end of the year, the southern province of Vinh Long plans to provide vocational training to over 4,700 rural labourers, realizing the goal to train 13,500 rural labourers under a project for the whole year.

The project is a part of the general programme until 2020 in which Vinh Long province targets to provide vocational training to 21,700 rural labourers, with a priority given to beneficiaries, revolutionary contributors, the poor, ethnic minority people, disabled people and those whose cultivated land is reclaimed for other purposes.

After two years of implementing the programme, the province has opened 670 vocational training courses for over 19,500 rural labourers, with capital of over 11.4 billion VND.

In the first half of 2012, courses on repairing motorbikes, cutting metals and civil electric systems were organized, while agricultural courses were also held to help rural labourers change their cultivation practices, improve production techniques and increase productivity.

After the courses, rural labourers were introduced to work at enterprises inside and outside the province, creating a workforce for labour export.

Nearly 80% of rural labourers get jobs after being trained./.
