On August 16, State President Truong Tan Sang met with former political prisoners in Ho Chi Minh City.
Established in 1997, the delegation of former political prisoners in Ho Chi Minh City includes 107 cadres. During the resistance wars, they overcame great danger and difficulties to turn imperialists’ prisons into schools. In their daily lives today, they are still contributing to socio-economic development.
During the meeting with the State President, they showed their emotion about the care from the State and Party, and expressed their thoughts about big issues of the country, hoping that the Party and State continued to have policies to increase the country’s position.
State President praised the contributions of former political prisoners, applauding Ho Chi Minh City authority for well implementing the Party and State policies for former political prisoners.
He said he hoped that senior political prisoners would continue to make contributions to the revolutionary process./.
