From now until the end of 2012, Hanoi will grant loans worth 330 billion VND to 22,000 poor families, the city People’s Committee reported.

According to the city People’s Committee, in the first six months of the year, loans worth 454 billion VND were provided for 30,000 poor families, in which 328 billion VND was given to 20,000 families for production purposes, 100 billion VND to 7,000 families and 13,000 people for job creation, and 23 billion VND to over 2,800 families for repairing houses.
The Hanoi City People’s Committee said that poor families had used the loans effectively and wisely to help increase their income, improve their living conditions, create jobs, and escape poverty.
So far, the total outstanding balance in credit programs for poor households has reached 1.373 trillion VND with 100,000 families benefiting from them, according to the city People’s Committee.
To help poor families’ achieve sustainable poverty reduction, the city People Committee has carried out diverse programmes, including the granting of loans worth 200 billion VND to 35,000 families who escaped poverty in 2011./.
