Vietnam’s tra fish appraised for ASC certificate for quality
    18:13 | 21/08/2012

(CPV) – The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) reported that the International Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) has officially chosen five tra fish breeding areas in the country to appraise for quality before granting its quality certificate.

In the end of May, the tra fish breeding area of Vinh Hoan Company and NTACO Joint Stock Company was appraised under the International ASC standard. In late July, three other companies of Hung Vuong Joint Stock Company, Docifish Joint Stock Company and East Sea Seafood Limited Company had three tra fish breeding areas appraised for quality. The appraisal of the above tra fish breeding areas is planned to be completed in late August.

VASEP said that with the new certificate for quality from ASC, Vietnam’s tra fish sector is expected to have a better competitive edge to retain its market share in major and potential consumption markets./.
