CPV: Prime Minister Phan Van Khai warmly welcomed Thai Premier Thaksin Shinawatra, who leads a delegation to the on-going Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM-5) in Hanoi.
Prime Minister Shinawatra appreciated the thorough preparations that Vietnam has made to make sure the summit is successful. He said, the event is of significance, marking the new development of Asia-Europe cooperation and friendship.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister expressed his delight to meet his counterpart again since the first joint cabinet meeting in Feb.2004. He affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the enhancement of friendship and cooperation for mutual interests with Thailand on bilateral grounds and within the ASEAN, ASEM, regional and international frameworks.
Mr Khai noted that the intensification of Vietnam-Thailand relationship is important to serve the peoples' interests, for the sake of peace, stability and cooperation in Southeast Asia.
Both sides expressed pleasure that ministries, and sectors have carried out commitments reached at the first joint cabinet meeting. The two prime ministers affirmed the second meeting. Timing will be worked out through diplomatic channel.
